Bulletin: A Return to the Superversive Livestream!

Yesterday I joined Anthony Marchetta on the Superversive Livestream to discuss anime, the Pulp Revolution, and the pulp tales of yore. We spoke about many other topics as well. It was a fun two hours, readers!

There were some technical difficulties with the stream, and we went silent or at least too low to hear a few times. You will probably have to skip ahead past those parts to the places where the audio returns:

Additionally, I thought you might like to see these reviews of my latest work, “Lupus One,” which is the cover story for Cirsova’s 2021 Summer Issue*! It was inspired by the anime I discuss with Anthony in the livestream. So if you like what you hear there and the reviews here and here intrigue you, then you may want to pick it up!

Cirsova’s Fall Issue is also up for pre-order here*. The links marked with asterisks are Amazon Affiliate links. When you purchase anything – and I do mean anything – through these connections, this author receives a small commission from the company.

Now I must get back to work on my latest project. Until then, enjoy the livestream and this most recent issue of Cirsova Magazine, readers. And remember: you ROCK! 🙂

    1. Sure! Let’s see, for the anime series we went into in detail, it went something like this:

      Death Note
      Zoids: New Century Zero
      Zoids: Chaotic Century
      Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
      My Hero Academia
      86

      Brief mentions also went to:
Final Fantasy VII Remake (JRPG, I know, but it made a good point)
      Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress
      Hunter X Hunter
      Yu-Yu Hakusho

And there were a few others mentioned, I believe. But these were the main anime we hit upon in our discussion. 🙂

  1. Anime for future episodes: Hands off the fim club! Steins Gate, *Trigun, Silver Spoons. There was one, Gate? That I swear was created as an advert for the Japanese army. Some iffy bits, but still good value.

It would be so cool if you would bring back “anime for the superversive”.

    Pretty please.

*Pulp rev pulpy! Also I discovered it thanks to AM’s Superversive anime recs. I miss those.

    1. Interesting discussion (I left some comments on YouTube) but the sound quality is… really hurting your team. Hmmm… I found this

      https://improvepodcast.com/7-tips-to-improve-podcast-audio-in-a-bad-room/#:~:text=%207%20Tips%20to%20Improve%20Podcast%20Audio%20Quality,%2425-50%20%28depending%20on%20required%20length%29.%20Use…%20More%20

But odds are you already know all this. Best wishes for future eps… Maybe one day I will figure out how to interact with a live stream!

      1. Thanks, Overgrown Hobbit! I’m glad you enjoyed the stream. Your comments under the video were wonderful and encouraging. 😀

*looks at link* Ah, thank you! I will keep this in mind the next time I’m invited on the stream. Anthony and Ben have made some changes to the software, and I was using new equipment, so that might have something to do with the iffy sound quality. Next time things will probably be better, as they will have more experience with the software and I will have acclimated to my new gear!

    2. Thanks for the suggestions, Overgrown Hobbit! I confess I’m still catching up on various anime series myself. Trigun and Silver Spoon are on my list, and I am currently watching an anime called Morobito: Guardian of the Spirit. So far I would definitely recommend it.

Gate *was* the title of that anime and it was something of an advert for the JSDF. One viewer also pointed out, according to what I was told, that in the series Japan behaves the way that America did in WWII while their adversaries behave in the manner of Imperial Japan. That alone piques my curiosity for this series, and I may give it a watch.

Well, I am not Anthony’s equal describing the superversive elements of anime. However, this livestream has given me some ideas for things to write about with regard to anime, though it may take me a little time to write them up. So stay tuned! 😀
